I am pretty sure there is no food I love more on this earth than pizza. I blame the Italian side of me for that. And after going to Italy and tasting REAL Italian pizza, delivery just doesn't do it for me anymore. I try and find real Italian restaurants who make pizza up to my standards and now make pizza at home. With Publix having their Viva Italia Days Sale going on right now, it was the perfect chance to have a pizza night at our house that the whole family could join in on.
What I love most about pizza nowadays is how easy it is to let my toddler help out. She can literally make the entire pizza herself, up until I put it in the oven. Most dinners I make don't allow for her to help me out very often. So when the chance comes for her to help this much, it is so much fun for all of us. Publix even has already rolled out pizza dough for you, to make the job even easier.
The first thing we did was get all of our toppings prepped and ready.
Add on a few tablespoons of sauce. We love the Hunt's canned sauce.
Top with a few handfuls of mozzarella and Parmesan shredded cheese.
Add any other toppings your family enjoys. We went with something a little healthier this time: chopped up mushrooms, peppers, and onions.
Place on a sheet of parchment paper and bake for 15-20 minutes. You want your cheese to start turning a golden brown and your crust to be cooked through.
We also picked up a fresh basil plant from Publix Viva Italia sale, and it was the perfect finishing touch on our pizzas.
I love love love pouring some balsamic vinegar on top of my pizza. It adds such a huge burst of flavor and I can't get enough of Progresso's Balsamic Vinegar.
